So at first we were all excited about having only 55 miles to bike today; than we remembered that after biking 95 miles on the previous day our bodies would be tired and possibly sore so 55 miles might feel like 80! As we leave the hotel parking lot we soon begin our first hill. I could hardly make it up the hill and I thought "if this is how my day is going to be, I'll never make it!". As we got to the top we heard this thump, thump, thump. As Kirby said "what's that", I knew....another flat on my back tire. So at mile 1.1 we set out to fix my tire! That was the bad news, the good news was we didn't miss a turn today!

This is a dam on the Chattahoochee River. It is a rather wide river so it looks more like a lake.

Another view of the river - note the old bridge that either fell down or was torn down. With all those trees wouldn't you think you were in Wisconsin?

Didn't I tell you we weren't done with hills yet? We had several good ones today. Note the bridge is the "downhill" and of course I had to stop to take pictures so I didn't get a head start on the uphill. Will I ever learn?

Here we are in Wisconsin again! I believe I have stereo-typed Florida as a tourist state and I never dreamed they had all these beautiful back roads lined with trees, a few farms, flowers and lots of birds. It is a very rural setting. I saw several old barns like this.

Several trees are in blossom. The locals in Quincy tell us the trees and flowers are about 3 weeks late in blooming. Seems to be the story throughout the south this year. Our temp today was in the low 90's. We did pick up a head/cross wind the last 20 miles, but maybe that was good as it was quite hot.
We lost an hour today so the evening is quite short. Everyone needed to do laundry as we won't have laundry service for the next 3 days. Of course since the sweeps get in late, our name seems to always be on the bottom of the laundry list...it's going on 10:00 p.m.; we are dead tired, still one more load to do, and we can't even put our pj's on cause their in the washing machine! Luckily Kirby and I are roommates tonight since we usually throw our laundry together. Mom would be proud of me tonight; we separated lights from darks as we had lots to do.
Speaking of my mom...I've had lots of miles to think about all the good times we shared and all the things she did for me. I've also had lots of time to pray for a cure for spinal cord injuries as well as pray for all those in need of healing at this time. It continues to amaze me that when the miles get rough and I then turn my thoughts towards Jason, Pat, Matt, Bryon and all the other SC patients who have endured hours and hours of therapy and exercise, I somehow get the strength to go on. Thank you for inspiring me.
We don't think we have internet on Saturday or Sunday;so it may be Monday before you hear from me.
