Thump, thump, thump.....what is it?

Another cool morning, but thanks to the semi drivers passing closely by, we were able to warm up a little as their exhaust hits us as they fly by. Once again we find ourselves beginning our day by traveling 40 miles on I-10. At about mile 36 I noticed a thump, thump, thump noise.....our adventure on interstate would not be complete without a back flat tire on the Forever Flyer! The three sweepers come to the rescue and fix it without too much of a problem. It's such fun to set the camera on self-timed automatic so we can all get in the picture. I would have thought one of the semi drivers would have offered to stop and take a picture, but.... no such luck! We get off the interstate at mile 40 and by mile 46, Katie has a flat!

This was a 20 mile stretch of head winds and rough, rough pavement. Texas calls it chip-seal...we can think of another name for it. When you are only able to travel 4-5 mph (because of winds) you do get to get a good look at the scenery....and it was gorgeous! The cacti was just beginning to bloom. I took 107 pictures today, God did a great job with his creation in this area.

One of the lovely views while traveling on the chip seal....at one point the winds were gusting and it blew me onto the gravel/straw grass.

Here we go! The last 15 miles of our 75 mile ride was mainly downhill. One breath-taking view after another.

One of our last great up and down curves as we head into Indian Lodge State Park. We are in the Davis Mountains and the lodge is beautiful. Tomorrow is a day of rest and no matter what direction we look, our view will be beautiful!

This is one of the lovely views from our lodge.

The mule deer here are very friendly and would come right up to our snack table and join the party. Unfortunately, there are also sightings of mountain lions! There is some animal that looks like a pig and isn't. Maybe I'll see one of them tomorrow...they say we will.e
Exhausted...I'm fixin' to go to bed. I'll hollar atcha' tomorrow. (Texas Talk)
