You Know Your In Texas...

You Know Your in Texas when....your waffle is in the shape of TEXAS!
You Know Your in Texas When......the speed limit on I-10 is 80 mph! We rode about ten miles on I-10. In an effort to not say anything negative about semi drivers, I'll say the advantage of them coming by you quite closely and probably 80 plus mph, you get a little "push" from the wind they create as they pass by you. Every little push forward helps!

The last two days we shared the road with the "border patrol". This one cute guy stops quite often to check on how we are doing. I understand seven of the bikers actually got stopped by the border patrol and were asked if they were US citizens! Not all of the border patrol guys are as nice as this one!

We continue to see mountains (smaller than other states). Some of the terrain on mountains seems quite rocky and some seem to be dirt with some vegetation.

This pic was a beautiful 8 mile stretch of downhill all the way to the hotel! Oh how I loved it! My odometer at one point read 35.8 mph. I had told myself I would never go that fast, but after pedaling 70 miles, it seemed like a good way to go for the last 5 miles.

Continue to see quite a few horses.....as I stopped to take picture their ears perked up as they thought I might have treats for them.

Seems impossible that we started in Pacific time zone and are now in Central time zone - makes me feel like I'm almost home, but not quite! Entering Central time zone also means we lost an hour today - which is hard to accept when we biked 75 miles, had to do laundry, eat, shower, etc.
Things I hope my mom doesn't find out:
  • Having only one pair of compression socks (which I get grease on daily), and not having enough time to wash them out every day....I discovered if you turn them inside out they look spanking clean!
  • Tonight was my laundry night and not a lot of time....SO I dumped the lights and darks together and put the machine on "colored fabric" and hoped for the best.
  • Speaking of my mom....I now know what she meant when I was growing up and she would say "it's so dirty it could stand alone"....that's my green jacket!

We may not have internet service Weds. & Thurs.
