Today was just one of those biking days where the miles seem to go by quickly. The fact that 65 of the 76 miles were flat, good pavement, and no wind helped! The last 10 miles we picked up some inclines and a head wind. For my
Oconomowoc friends, I never realized what large chain of motels The
LaBelle Motel has....we are at another one of their sister hotels tonight!

Scenery had some changes today....who thought I'd see wrapped hay bales in Florida? Went past a large field of them. Seeing some cattle, horses, sheep and goats again. Continue to have woods most of the time....sometimes the smell of the wood is so wonderful; brings back memories of when I was a child and we would go to the state fair and we often bought this little probably 1.5 inch square wood cabin that you put some type of "stuff" in it and lit it and it smelled just like the woods. That was before scented candle days!

Thought this sign was cute as we passed over the Suwanee River in
Branford, Fla.

The Suwanee River

Looking a bit like Texas....our Florida ride today had quite a few wild flowers along the road.

For about 10 miles we were on a bike trail; it was so shaded and nice. It's fun now and then to not have to think about traffic.

At about the 50 mile mark we stopped at
Ichetucknee Springs State Park. There are several springs in the park and this is one of them. The water is 72 degrees year round and bluer than the Caribbean. You can see fish swimming, in the spring we were at there was an eel. There are also caves in the springs. Friends Lois,
JoAnn, Suzanne, Kirby, me & Katie.

A view of the springs from up above. Oh, while we were at the park a photographer from Currents Magazine, which is a magazine that promotes recreation in Fla, took several pictures of us and said we would be in the May issue. I think we are making it to the big time!
The first video below is of the springs. Hope you can see how blue and clear the water is. Listen for birds.
Every day we patiently await snacks to be put out so that we can make our sandwiches, gorp bags, take fruit, snack bars, etc. and be on our way. Today a couple of the gals sang an old girl scout song while they waited. It might be one of those things that you "had to be there to see the humor!"
