I Thought It Was a Day of Rest?

So our guides just happen to mention that after biking in rain and slush for three days we needed to clean our bikes...and they didn't mean hose them down! Fearless leader Carol held a class to show us how to clean the cogs, the derailer, the brakes, etc. So the morning of our "rest day" was spent cleaning bikes. Wearing rubber gloves, everyone proceeds to make those bikes sparkle! Please note Barb
(right - black jacket) is 75 years young! And yes, she biked all 89 miles yesterday.

To clean the back brakes, they tell me I have to remove the tire...hope it goes back on!

Part of our biking 4-some, Kathy with her bike on the bike stand cleaning the easier way. (no bending over or lifting the bike)

Yes, the tire went back on the Forever Flyer, the back brakes work and I didn't have any leftover parts!

I'm off to the hot tub to relax - this is my day off ya know! Tomorrow we enter Arizona.
(no internet service on Wednesday...so long for a day or two)

  1. I am amazed at what you are doing and your stamina, Patti. I am really proud of you! Everytime I pass a biker, I think of you and want to roll down my window and tell them about my incredible friend who is biking across the country. Praying often for you, dear friend.

  2. WOW! 89 miles. Congratulations. You are a real inspiration to us. We love following along with you. Thanks for sharing. Dale and I were thinking about you when you were on the San Diego Freeway! We don't even like to drive on that. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Love from Wisconsin.
