How to describe today? 42 degrees and rain from about noon on. Expecting snow tonight! Despite the cold and rain, I was happy with my day; I felt stronger than yesterday and had to dig really, really deep to hang in there - but I did. Well, just about - the last 8 miles was downhill all the way to the hotel and 2/3 of the women took a "ride" in and I was one of them. It had become very dangerous, shoulder of road all pot holes, yet riding on road was dangerous as it was foggy, raining hard, and slippery. We couldn't trust our brakes. So even tho I sagged 8 downhill miles - I'm proud of myself as well as my decision to know when it is time to stop.
The hotel is on the Mexican border - HUGE fence and lots of border patrol. Until tomorrow...

I agree that was a smart move Patti! Hopefully the weather will be nicer by morning....or just tell them you have to go to church today and make it last all day! Keep paddling on, you are doing great! Sharon

Good going Patti: Got home at 3AM this morning and glad I could hit the sack when you were just hitting the road. Remember that it's my responsibility to say "Be safe". Also, the Peso will be your coin of choice for the next 1,000 miles. Don't take any Kroner!! Looking for your next blog. Jack

ReplyDeletePatti, after just being on interstate 8 and in a car, I can't imagine riding a bike, you must have been terrified, I know I was and I was in a car. Glad to hear you played it safe. You have a good sense to know when you have had enough. You have a long way to go and you need to be in tip top shape..F/F Billie
